How to Mend a Broken Heart and Get Back in the Game of Life

Anyone whos suffered a broken heart knows its one of the deepest pains a human can experience. Building your life around a person you loved, trusted, and cared for and then lose it, is almost emotionally unbearable.

If youre going through the agonizing pain of a broken heart, hang on. Before you give up on love (or yourself), open your mind to the following advice to mend your broken heart and successfully get on with your life.

You Deserve and Need Some Time to Yourself

Let the rest of the world fade away and only focus on you. Remember how carefree you used to be? You can feel that way again by reconnecting to your mind, body, and spirit.

Dating

Do the things that used to make you happy and visit the people that put a smile on your face. People in relationships spend a lot of their time focusing on the other person. Now, its your time to shine and do whatever you want.

Take a weekend trip with some friends or catch up with family members you havent seen in quite a while. Revisit your favorite hobbies or sports such as hiking, surfing, or trying new recipes.

Use this opportunity to make yourself happy and learn from your experience. Many heartbroken people find it therapeutic to write down their feelings in a journal or just cry to ease their negative emotions. Whatever you choose, its okay.

How to Mend a Broken Heart and Get Back in the Game of Life

Losing someone in a relationship is very comparable to grieving a death. In fact, it is a death of sorts, isnt it? The relationship has deceased. So, do whatever it takes to make yourself feel better, excluding self-medicating with harmful drugs and/or alcohol.

Take Action to Help Yourself Feel Better

Remove all memories of the person who broke your heart. Take down pictures of them in your home and work space, and disconnect from them in all social media. If youre brave enough, delete their number from your phone along with their email address as well.

Constantly seeing something that reminds you of them is not going to help you heal. However, try to refrain yourself from throwing out or burning any objects linked to this person; unless you are 100% sure its over.

What a grave mistake it would be to lose those significant mementos if you get back together with this person. How are you going to explain that? Just put them in a safe place for now.

Its incredibly important to eat properly and exercise at a time like this when your spirits are so low. However, they wont be low for long. Theres a reason this breakup happened.

Simply put, theres someone better suited for you in your future. Someone whos more aligned with your ideals, goals, and your life in general. Go ahead and let yourself grieve for now, its a necessary process. But as you do so, keep in mind there are sunnier days ahead.

Avoid the Person Who Broke Your Heart At All Costs

If youve been with this person for any length of time, you know his habits/schedule and he undoubtedly knows yours. So, try to avoid places where you know hell be until you are completely over him.

Seeing this person again is like salt in a wound and will only make it harder for you to heal. If you do happen to run into them, give them a courteous "hello" and simply move on.
Dont let them know how much pain theyve caused you. When they see that youre doing just fine without them, it will be a slap in the face to them. Its payback at its best.

Right now, its easier said than done, but try to remain optimistic. Whenever you feel yourself listening to negative mind chatter concerning the past, change the dial as quickly as possible to something that gives you great joy. You will get through this and you will be better because of it. Trust.
